Yooperlite is a syenite rock containing fluorescent sodalite, appearing gray to light brown in normal light with speckled or mottled patterning. Under ultraviolet (UV) light, Yooperlite reveals a bright orange to yellow glow, making it a favorite among collectors and UV-reactive stone enthusiasts. Each tumble stone has its own unique surface texture and fluorescence pattern.
Origin & Locality
Yooperlite is found along the shores of Lake Superior, primarily in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. The name “Yooperlite” comes from the nickname “Yooper,” referring to residents of the Upper Peninsula. While the stone itself is syenite, the glowing effect comes from sodalite within the rock.
Metaphysical Properties
Yooperlite is often associated with self-expression, truth, and emotional awareness. It is commonly linked to the Throat Chakra and Third Eye Chakra and is believed to support clear communication, insight, and emotional release. Many people work with Yooperlite to bring hidden feelings to light and encourage honest self-reflection.
Intuitively Chosen Stone
Each Yooperlite tumble stone will be intuitively chosen for you. As these are natural stones, variations in color, patterning, size, shape, and UV response intensity are to be expected. Fluorescence strength may vary from piece to piece.
