Although commonly called Jasper, Bumblebee Jasper is not a true Jasper and is instead composed of several minerals formed in association with volcanic activity. Its distinctive yellow, orange, gray, cream, and black coloration creates the bold patterns for which the material is prized. Because its composition can include sulfur-bearing and arsenic-bearing minerals, Bumblebee Jasper is best handled as a decorative stone and should not be used for crystal elixirs or placed in drinking water.
